VIDEO Jairzinho Rozenstruik angry with referee after technical knockout | Sport

The match was stopped by referee Herb Dean after two minutes and about forty seconds. Rozenstruik had to take some serious blows halfway through the first round and the arbiter had seen enough. He quickly stepped in ‘Big Boy’ and Volkov to quit the party.

At first glance, the third man in the octagon intervened somewhat early, as Rozenstruik was still relatively stable on his legs. The fighter from Paramaribo was also clearly not happy with the referee’s action.

Rozenstruik got off to a great start in the UFC. He won all of his four first matches. Among others, Alistair Overeem, Badr Hari’s next opponent at Glory, was defeated. Since then it has been a lot more difficult for the Surinamese and he has only won two of his last six fights. It should be noted that because of his initial success he faced increasingly stronger opponents.

Watch how the fight between Rozenstruik and Volkov ended below:

Rozenstruik is currently placed eighth in the UFC heavyweight division. Volkov is one spot above him, although Saturday’s fight may cause shifts.

Francis Ngannou is the reigning champion in the toughest division. However, it is still unclear when the 35-year-old Cameroonian will return to action. He is still recovering from knee surgery.

The UFC gives out bonuses after each event for special performances. On Saturday, the match between Lucas Almeida and Mike Trizano was declared the ‘fight of the night’. Both fighters touched $50,000.

Ode Osbourne and Karine Silva also went home with that amount. They were rewarded with a premium for their ‘performance of the night’. Osbourne dealt with a hard knockout with Zarrukh Adashev. Silva was a size too big for Poliana Botelho and triumphed via a so-called. D’Arce Choke

Alonzo Menifield also impressed in the Apex Arena. He defeated debutant Askar Mozharov with some hard elbows.
