Elbow injury Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas has withdrawn from his first tennis match of the season with an elbow injury. The Greek number 4 in the world would compete in Sydney in the ATP Cup against the Pool Hubert Hurkacz.

“The recovery from my elbow surgery in November is on track with a view to the Australian Open. Today was a precaution to make sure I make it to Melbourne. We look at it day by day and match by match,” said Tsitsipas, who is replaced by Aristotelis Thanos.

Tsitsipas, 23, withdrew from the ATP Finals in November with the same injury.

The Australian Open starts on Monday, January 17.
