With hardly a cloud in the sky, the Liberation Festivals in the country are full of visitors. After two sober corona years, the May 5 festivities can take place again this year. It is even so busy in Assen that the organization is calling on people not to come to the festival site at the Baggelhuizerplas for the time being.

Anyone wanting to celebrate freedom in Utrecht had to be patient in the afternoon. Visitors had to queue for some time to get to the festival site in Transwijk park through the only entrance to enjoy music, a drink and a snack on the grass. Photos on social media showed a long line of visitors waiting to dance to 77 years of freedom. “It was a bit busier for a while, but it is now running well again,” said a spokeswoman. “We still have enough space on the site, so everyone is still welcome at the festival.”

In Zwolle, an estimated 130,000 people will visit the city center on Thursday, the Liberation Festival Overijssel, or Dance4Liberation at the Wijthmenerplas. The two festivals can host 120,000 and 30,000 party people respectively.

20,000 tickets were sold for the festival in Groningen on Thursday morning. As a test, a ticket there costs 5 euros and 91 cents for service costs, but people with a small budget could enter for free. It is the only place of the fourteen cities where the National Committee on 4 and 5 May organizes a festival where the entrance costs money.

The sensational Everything Everywhere All At Once, in cinemas from Thursday, gives the same kick that Being John Malkovich and the first The Matrix caused in 1999. And then those comparisons don’t even cover half the load.
