Relay teams to final at World Championship short track, Knegt misses podium 1500 meters | To skate

Itzhak de Laat had previously finished second in the B-final.


Xandra Velzeboer had to settle for sixth place in the final of the 1500 meters. The title went to Olympic champion Minjeong Choi from South Korea.

Rianne de Vries came third in the B-final. Defending champion Suzanne Schulting is missing from the World Cup. She tested positive for the corona virus a few days before the tournament.

Relief teams

The Dutch relay teams have both reached the final. The women won their semifinals against Italy and Poland. The men were ahead of Canada and France in their semifinals. Both teams are the defending champions.

Selma Poutsma, Xandra Velzeboer, Rianne de Vries and Yara van Kerkhof competed in the women’s race. Poutsma was initially unsubscribed from the World Cup after a corona infection, but was flown in after negative tests to participate in the relay.

The men’s relay team was formed by Itzhak de Laat, Friso Emons, Sven Roes and Sjinkie Knegt.
