“It may not be the last time, this evening, that you see me on television,” said Witteman at the table. “If people say: I would like you to be the jury chairman of a classic program, well, I will do that. I like that. But in terms of, Witteman is going to put together a new program and we will see him on the TV in the next ten years, I think the chance is very small.”
According to Witteman, there are “worse things” than quitting. Stage Witteman does it “extremely well,” he said. “It allows you to leave in a way that is satisfying.” In the last two weeks after announcing his retirement from the program, he has had “nice and supportive responses.” “That is a nice bonus for someone with a shaky belief in themselves.”
The last episode of the NTR music program Stage Witteman can be seen on NPO 2 on Sunday 15 May. The broadcaster is in talks with the NPO about a successor for Stage Witteman†
