Alistair Overeem is set to make his GLORY debut in October. The martial artist takes on Badr Hari in his first match under the flag of the prestigious kickboxing organization, reports the AD†
The 42-year-old Overeem was initially scheduled to fight his first match at GLORY against Rico Verhoeven in March, but he withdrew from that fight due to an injury.
Hari last fought in Hasselt in Belgium in March, but his match against Pole Arkadiusz Wrzosek was never completed. Riots broke out in the stands between supporters of Hari and Wrzosek, after which the party was stopped by order of the police. Fourteen supporters and four police officers were injured.
After confrontations in 2008 and 2009, it will be the third time that Overeem and Hari will face each other. The martial artists each won once. It is not yet known where the fight between Overeem and Hari will take place.
Jamal Ben Saddik will be back in action in June, it reports AD† After the disturbances at the match between Wrzosek and Hari, Ben Saddik’s fight against Levi Rigters was cancelled. Benjamin Adegbuyi will also be present at GLORY 81.
