Calvin Stengs (ex-AZ) was missing from Nice’s selection. Former PSV player Rosario was close to a goal in the first minute, but compatriot Bizot was able to parry his shot. Nice took the lead after 12 minutes. Kluivert took off on the left flank and then put the ball back on Dolberg. The former Ajax player scored his fifth goal of the season.
Referee Stéphanie Frappart decided after 20 minutes to send Schneiderlin off the field with a red card and gave Kluivert a yellow card moments later. In the end, Nice walked away from Brest in the second half via goals from substitute Andy Delort and Amine Gouiri. The team of the three Dutchmen climbed to second place in Ligue 1, with 10 points less than leader Paris Saint-Germain, which will play against Olympique Lyon on Sunday evening.
Clement debuts with a draw at AS Monaco
Trainer Philippe Clement has made his debut at AS Monaco with a goalless draw against Nantes. Clement exchanged Club Brugge for Monaco last week, where he succeeded the dismissed Niko Kovac. The Belgian champion appointed the Dutchman Alfred Schreuder to replace 47-year-old Clement.
The Belgian had no base place for Myron Boadu in his first game as coach of Monaco. The striker, who came over from AZ last year, was allowed to come in halfway through the second half. Boadu soon had a great opportunity, but missed.
With 30 points from 20 matches, Monaco is seventh in the French football league. Nantes has 1 point less and takes ninth place.
