Johan Derksen lets music speak after candle riot | TV
The program Music for adults of the 73-year-old music connoisseur was announced on the website of the Arrow Bluesbox Radio station as a live show on Sunday evening. During the broadcast, Derksen did not say a word about the commotion of recent days, but let the music speak. He started the show with a song by Ray Charles and Norah Jones: Here We Go Again†
Arrow Bluesbox Radio decided, unlike many others, not to drop after the candle riot. The owner of the channel said he found it “downright ridiculous” what happened to Derksen after his much-discussed statements in Today Inside†
“Cancelling it by a small group, the media and radio stations running blindly after it. It all has nothing to do with each other. Now we have reached the point where there is a nice program on the air, and a man who has meant a lot for good Dutch music is being turned away by everyone. Well, not by us.”
