James Wade and Gary Anderson convincingly to semi-final World Cup darts | Darts

Published

on

Although Wade started quite weak and struggled to hit the triples, he immediately took the first set thanks to a strong fifth leg. This while King had started it. Wade started the second set. After the first four legs were won via a break, Wade did win the fifth and quickly took the lead comfortably.

King simply failed to put pressure on his high-scoring opponent in the third. As a result, Wade actually ran out to 3-0 in sets without too many problems. King got the chance to break Wade once in the fourth set, but otherwise it seemed to be a hopeless mission for the number 21 of the placing list.

Exemplary for the match was the first leg of the fifth set, in which King had three darts to finish it, but he failed to do so. For example, without throwing extremely well, Wade went through a 5-0 victory to the semi-finals.

Anderson knocks Humphries

Anderson did not manage to win the first set this World Cup and that was no different against Humphries. The big set loss didn’t seem to bother Anderson in the least, because he then kept his self-started set and immediately broke Humphries when starting the third company. It turned out to be the prelude to the first set break of the match.

However, Humphries showed himself mentally at least as strong as Anderson and the Scot simply broke back. As a result, the two didn’t give each other an inch during the first sets and it was a much more exciting battle than in the match that had opened the new year.

In the fifth set, however, things went completely wrong for Humphries. He initially led 2-0, but then gave up that lead and was also broken in the fifth leg by the two-time world champion. Anderson decided the set with a 110 finish.

He then happily continued with a 148 finish at the start of set six. Humphries had a nice answer ready, but eventually had to leave the sixth set to his opponent. In the seventh set it also came down to the five leg. Humphries seemed to postpone his execution for a while with a finish of 170, but eventually misses the decisive bulls-eye, after which Anderson finally decided the game.
