Well-known for his work on Marvel Comics’ Venom series, Donny Cates is selling an exclusive piece from the Absolute Carnage crossover event.
Showcased on Cates’ Twitter page, the black-and-white drawing features several sketches of Dark Carnage, who was the crossover’s main villain. “For #Creators4Comics I am auctioning off the LITERAL FIRST DRAWING of ABSOLUTE CARNAGE that Ryan Stegman gave to me at a summit after I pitched the story,” Cates wrote. “The drawing is 9×12 and is a ONE OF A KIND PIECE.” Cates went on to mention that bidding will take place in the comments and the auction would end in 48 hours.
Written by Cates with art by Ryan Stegman, Absolute Carnage began releasing in 2019 and showed the Marvel Universe going up against one of the most powerful symbiotes. The event would feature tie-ins to several Marvel comic series, including Venom, Deadpool, Miles Morales and Amazing Spider-Man.
In addition to Venom, Donny Cates has written for several other series, including Thor, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Guardians of the Galaxy and more.
The #Creators4Comics movement was started in an attempt to help bookstores and comic shops suffering due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Many comic creators are auctioning off drawings, specialty items and more, with proceeds going to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation.
