Johan Derksen’s blues tour has been canceled altogether. Agency AT Next decided last week to end its collaboration with ‘speaker master’ Derksen, but to let the performances go on without him. In “consultation with the band”, the tour of The Sound of The Blues & Americana has now been cancelled. AT Next does not want to make any further statements about the decision.
The agency let the future of the collaboration depend on the apologies that Derksen would offer last week on talk show Today Inside for his controversial candle story. When those failed to materialize last Thursday, AT Next decided not to continue with him.
Derksen came under fire last week after telling VI on Tuesday that he allegedly penetrated an unconscious woman with a candle in the 1970s. He later nuanced that story and Derksen stated that no penetration had taken place after all. According to Talpa, he had to apologize in the SBS6 program, but instead he announced that he would stop the talk show. Wilfred Genee and René van der Gijp also resigned.
