Awards and nominations
Best Short Film & Audience Award, Best Director, Best Narrative Film, Best Dramatic Film and Best Historic Film… Those are some of the titles that Une Liberation has in his name. It seems to have become a trend to continue making films about the Second World War, but Une Liberation proves that there is good reason to do so. Filmmakers Marion Kerr and Brian Crewe manage to process modern conflicts and themes in a story from another time.
Scriptwriter Marion Kerr also plays the main character in the film. Juliet is an American resistance fighter in Paris who continuously risks her life to deliver secret messages to the Allies. While the Nazis struggle to keep the city under control, Juliet encounters another spy, Jean, in the tunnels underground. The prospect of the end of the war gives them hope, but a number of Germans seem to be throwing a spanner in the works.
The film has been praised for its plot, dialogue and all facets of the production design. The cinematography by George Feucht and the acting by Kerr, Ross Marquand, Matthew Temple and Mark Jaeger have also received much praise. The actors speak English, French and German and manage to switch realistically between the languages and tone of voice. Various genres are smoothly reviewed in sixteen minutes. From war and action to romance and drama.
