AZ led 2-1 until the 90th minute, but still lost the game. “We played a very creditable game,” said Jansen. “Until the 90th minute there is actually not a penny of pain and we are not bothered by anything.” After the equalizer, the trainer saw his team in trouble. “If you keep a little more peace, you stay away from that. But we can’t manage that and then he falls in nicely after all.”
“We have every confidence in the return match, despite all the negative emotions that naturally come to the surface,” the trainer believes. “We have shown that we are capable of beating Heerenveen.”
Heerenveen coach Ole Tobiasen still sees AZ as a favorite. “We still have nothing to lose,” he says on his club’s website. “AZ must. It’s only one goal difference. We certainly don’t count ourselves rich yet. It can still go either way.”
The game starts on Sunday at 2.30 pm in Alkmaar. The other semi-final is between Vitesse and FC Utrecht.
