About 2.42 million people attended the National Remembrance Day on Dam Square in Amsterdam on Wednesday. King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Mayor Femke Halsema were present at the meeting, which was traditionally broadcast on NPO 1.
About 721,000 people watched the remembrance day on the Waalsdorpervlakte, in the dunes near Wassenaar, on RTL 4, according to Stichting KijkOnderzoek. In honor of the commemoration, SBS6 broadcast the film Soldier of Orange on Wednesday evening just after eight. It was turned on by 586,000 people.
The NOS Journaal of 8 p.m. was broadcast half an hour later because of the two minutes of silence. About 2.77 million people watched this on NPO 1.
Also at the top of the list of best viewed programs were Tussen Kunst en Kitsch on NPO 1 (1.33 million), the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Manchester City on RTL 7 (1.21 million) and the NOS Journaal from 6 p.m. on NPO 1 (1.06 million).
